1925 was a real boon year for Lake City and the Blanche Hotel. The Wade Group was contemplating adding another 3 stories to the building and another 100 or more rooms. The store rooms on the ground floor were filled with real estate brokers, title people, lawyers, contractors as well as doctors, and actual stores. The new managers, O.K. and Rebecca Holmes were quickly seeping in with the local residents by joining the various clubs and societies. O.K. was elected the secretary of the Chamber of Commerce or campaigned for the position to get more people to come to the Blanche for their meetings, functions, parties, and new business locations. There was a major push to sell off all the farmland and develop residential communities all around the county.
One of the biggest news or promising developments was the forming of the 20th Century Club. Now, when I first saw this headline I thought they were talking about “progress” with scientific development, airplanes, more cars, more phones, and lots of businesses moving into the area. BUT that is not what it was about at all. Below is one of the articles in the Lake City Reporter dated August 21, 1925
“20th Century Club Organization”
Representatives of the 20th Century Club here will hold a meeting at the Blanche Hotel, parlor floor, at 9 p.m. Friday evening. A cordial invitation to attend is extended to the citizens of our city. Mrs. Martha Marson, national fields secretary will address those
present, as will also Mr. Allen C. McConnell well-known movie director and actor.The purpose of these clubs is the education and development of both children and adults along the lines they are best fitted to pursue. Mr. Edward Young Clarke who is the president of the national organization says: “There will be 300 clubs organized in as many different cities in the U.S.A. The backbone of those clubs will be what is known as the Founders Association comprising from 2500 to 5000 men and women scattered throughout the country who will send delegates to the national convention and who will in a general way lookout for the welfare of the club in their community. Each club will have a director who will teach motion picture and legitimate stage setting; courses in salesmanship, elocution, short story writing, and other lines will be furnished to members of each club. The organization is negotiating for the purchase of a large acreage in Florida where it will erect a motion picture studio and build a film colony at a cost of several million dollars. Size master productions are to be made immediately upon completion of the studio. Members of the local clubs who have outstanding talent will be sent to this studio and will take part in the productions as rapidly as it is possible to develop them into capable actors and actresses.
Miss Elizabeth Orwin with headquarters at the Blanche hotel is in charge of the club work organization in this city and will be glad to answer any and all questions.”

I have done a few of these for my clients and one for myself and already submitted them. Another author filmed her morning routine on her farm where and when she gets most of the ideas from and then had the voice actress for the audiobooks to record herself reading from one of the books. Another filmed her entire presentation at her beach house where she goes to get away and get some writing done. I filmed myself at one of the state parks featured in the book.
