Research Sources for Historians

Finding reliable research sources is probably the number one problem for most historians. We strive to get the most authentic sources of information we can but there are lots of things against us. The most prevalent one is, of course, time itself. Primary source documents will not be available for anyone if they are not taken care of over the years. Most of them end up in our local dumps because family members do not know or care that the documents, pictures and/or videos from their relatives will have historical significance in the future. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a volunteer organization that would be willing to digitize materials during the lifetimes of those willing share their stories with future generations.

We are changing the focus of this website or adding an additional purpose. Not only are we going to be sharing what we find about the historical Blanche Hotel but we will be sharing how to research and where to find great places to help you with your own research projects. Columbia County Florida and Lake City, Florida specifically has some great primary researches still available but a lot has been lost over the years. Families out there who would like to preserve their family documents should be scanning them in, converting photographs and digitizing their videos and then sharing them would be great! – USE OUR CONTACT US page to let us know.
