We are writing a book about the history of the Hotel Blanche in Lake City, Florida. Over the next several months we are hoping to schedule personal interviews with people who have worked at the Blanche, had a business at the Blanche, stayed at the Blanche or attended events at the Blanche. Along with this we hope to create an interactive DVD with personal interviews, historical video (if we can find some) as well as a photo montage from historical personal pictures and current pictures as well.
We will be looking at any and all historical records we can find that reference the Hotel Blanche, copying them, scanning them into digital format and compiling them into book form. Along with this we are researching the biographies of every single manager and owner of the Blanche. This research along with all the parties and events that were written about will be posted in the book only. On the website we have created an electronic Guest Registry book and started a listing of the employees who have worked at the hotel by year. We include articles about historical events that happened in Columbia county as blog posts just for the fun of it.
We hope to have all this done and made into a book for distribution before the renovations are complete. Now, that the demolition phase has started on the hotel we will be racing the clock to get all of our research completed, interviews recorded, done and uploaded to the website and the book written and formatted to published in paperback and eBook format as well as sending the material to a local production company to create the DVD.
